Government acknowledges service of Dr Helen Szoke

 Attorney-General Robert Clark has today expressed the Coalition  Government’s appreciation of the work of the outgoing Victorian Equal
 Opportunity and Human Rights Commissioner, Dr Helen Szoke.

 Dr Helen Szoke has today announced her resignation from the position of  Commissioner of VEOHRC after more than six years with the Commission,  including as Commissioner since 2009.

 “I thank Dr Szoke for her many years of public service at the Victorian  Equal Opportunity and Human Rights Commission,” Mr Clark said.
 
 “Dr Szoke has made a significant contribution to the Victorian community over many years through her various roles at the Commission and through  her dedicated commitment to promoting justice and fairness for all in the  community.

 “I have greatly appreciated the positive and constructive working  relationship with Dr Szoke and the Commission since the election of the
 Coalition Government,” Mr Clark said.

 Prior to her appointment as Commissioner in 2009, Dr Szoke was the Chief  Executive Officer and Chief Conciliator of the Commission.

 It is expected that the VEOHRC Board will appoint an Acting Commissioner  pending the recruitment of a new Commissioner.
